
Root Beer Baked Beans
A sweet and smoky twist on a classic side dish! These Root Beer Baked Beans are slow-cooked to perfection with rich flavors of caramelized onions, crispy bacon, and the deep sweetness of root beer. Perfect for BBQs, potlucks, or a cozy family dinner!
Ingredients:
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 (15 oz) cans navy beans, drained and rinsed
- ¾ cup root beer
- ½ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Cook the Bacon & Onions:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving about 1 tbsp of bacon grease in the pan. Add the diced onion and sauté until soft and golden.
Mix the Sauce:
In a bowl, whisk together the root beer, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Combine & Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a baking dish, mix the navy beans, cooked bacon, sautéed onions, and root beer sauce until well combined. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Serve & Enjoy:
Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until thick and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving. These sweet and smoky baked beans are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!
