Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Make the Batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.

Shape and Bake:
Scoop small mounds of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.

Glaze and Serve:
While the fritters cool slightly, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Drizzle over the warm fritters and let set for a few minutes. Enjoy warm with a cup of coffee or tea!
